Hi all,
Car in question is 90 SPG.
I don't have an A/F gauge and didn't plan to get one because everything I've read says that unless you have a wideband sensor, any accurate readings are within the ECUs ability to correct. I don't yet have an accurate boost gauge. I know that the dash gauge is not accurate, but I thought that they were at least self consistant.
I finally decided to do the "right" LH 2.4 tweaks. Here is the set up I've just completed:
30# injectors
Modified vacuum advance (Brad's)
300 ohm resistor on AMM line
Tweaked APC (R42 bypassed, R138 40.2K Ohm, R40 1.3K ohm, F turned to "11 o'clock", P turned to "7 o'clock")
Base boost was good a couple months ago, but I have not rechecked.
I plan Brad's IC fan and K&N as well as new style BPV within the next couple weeks.
From reading others posts, I expected more. The car used to boost 85% through the yellow and taper to 50% yellow when pulling hard in 3rd. Now the car boosts just barely into the red (one gauge needle's width) and tapers to 80% yellow. Boost rise rate is a bit faster than before.
The "seat of the pants" dyno doesn't feel that much more power. I did a quick 0-60 run with the G-Tech Pro and my time hasn't improved. Granted, that could be due to driver inconsistency, but if I was making much more power, I'd get at least a little improvement even if I were a little inconsistent. I didn't do the G-Tech Pro horsepower reading but plan to sometime next week. I had hoped to pick up 25-35 HP which would have dropped my 0-60 to around 7 seconds. Alas, this did not happen.
All the other posts I read, people do the tweaks and they are boosting 50% or more red. I realize the gauges are inconsistend, but my max boost only went 4-5mm up the gauge (old-85% yellow, new-3% red). I expected to feel more.
Any ideas? Is this just what I get and I need an SPG9 box? Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave D
