I know what's going through your mind. The KYBs look the cats meow with the price and all the marketing hype them put out. Let me share some of my KYB experiences with you and you.

I have installed KYBs in (at least) 5 previous owned vehicles and they rode great (soft, compliant and better than the dead shocks removed). Since most of these cars were not kept for more than 5K-10K mile after the shocks were replaced I can not comment on the longevity, but I did keep an Explorer for longer and had the shocks wear out in 20K miles. I was rather surprised since the vehicle is not driven off-road and our roads are not that bad. I tried getting new shocks under the warranty, but since they did not "fail" and just wore our, there was no coverage. The person I bought them from told me that this was not unusual and I should have bought a better shock and it would have lasted longer.

With this said, I would go with something else. If you are looking for performance with long life, try Bilstein or Koni. They are more expensive, but I can vouch for Bilstein as my wife's Volvo has them and they are definately performance oriented (a little to harsh for her, oh well) and they last a very long time.

Whatever decision you make I hope my experience helps. While I bought may KYBs in the past I am no long found of them.
