Hi again Joe,

1) Knock lite at 2-5 psi.

Can u hear it? say that because false knock is possible, esp with msd. i get false knock with timing light use. magnacore cables should help, and cleaning knock sensor connector. plugs should be stock gap, ignore msd rec'n.

Also consider bypassing msd, to eliminate a possible bad variable. Shouldn't need it at 2-5 psi, and stock sys doesn't put retard in until about 4 psi on old low C.R. piston 8vt.

Also verify vac adv and boost retard work right.

Does tps position influence problem? mabe big bore carb influence.

2) Compression high

on my old porsche, mahle droped compr by increasing dish in middle. make sure 8.5 8v pistons are lower compression in a 16V engine, vs stock 9.0 piston (diff pin location, etc).

only other things could be eng very hot during test, or lower overlap with special cams.

3) low performance

excees retard will do this, and stock act + 16 deg + .75 btm is VERY excessive. 16 - 6 - 7.5 is about 2.5 adv at 10 psi = boat anchor. target is about 10 deg advance at max boost.

4) Fuel

the influence of fuel delivered, with 30 + rrfpr at 1.9 bar (hose off), vs stock is:

idle zero 10psi 16psi

2% __ 18% _ 31% _ 37%

The added 300 ohm R drop amm out a lot down low, but much less at higher output, but is needed to avoid fuel cut. Brad's 300 om trick was not intended for rrfpr use. the como is cruder than crude fuel management. better ways to do this.

5) suggestion

limit boost to 8 psi for now, install 3 bar fpr, stock inj'rs, and get that to work right.

6) 5-speed ? gearset available with taller 1st? that would be great, and help save 2nd syncro.
