Well I was doing some more research for performance parts that would work with our Swedish sleds....

I ordered myself an Arospeed cranckase filter breather, and when I recieved it, they advertised their website on the packaging. I'm always curious. I checked it out, and I found quite an interesting intake system that could work for our cars...

--LINK & PIC BELOW--

It basically looks like the Viggen intercooler. It sits behind your bumper, outside of your engine bay, and recieves incoming cold air at full force. It looks alot like an intercooler, which I believe Arospeed tried to do, so ricers can at least think, or pretend they actually have a turbo.

Here is Arospeed's writeup for the intake..
"The Arospeed Cold Air Front Intake Systems are designed to be mounted in the front of the vehicle, allowing cool, clean air to enter the intake system. This system has a removeable lexan window that helps protect the filter element from hazards, however it can be removed for race purposes."

I checked out eBay, and found about 10 different auctions for these intakes. Around $120 a peice. Around $60 for an open cone hot air intake, vs. another $60 for the cold intake.

I am currently going to install a Volvo intercooler in my 90 SPG, and I'm sure I could squeeze this intake behind the bumper while I'm in there.

I can't imagine why this filter wouldn't add on a good bit of ponies, especially for a turbocharged SAAB. That terribly hot air inside the engine bay is no good for the turbo, and this filter would totally bypass any hot air from being entered.

What do you think?
