Suggestions, assuming that you have a 2.3 turbo engine -
(1) 3" downpipe and catalyst, or preferably a full system. The JT 3" turbo-back should give you +10 bhp according to Maptun, who sold me mine. Some site sponsors have 2½" systems, some people commission their own from exhaust shops - the main point is to get rid of the awkward bend in the downpipe and get the gases away, also reducing their temperature.
(2) ECU upgrade from whoever takes your fancy. Lots of opinions here. Going back to Maptun, I think their site lists 247 bhp with chip only, or 270 with chip and exhaust. You can see that the exhaust makes a lot more difference once you have the chip, contributing 23 bhp. Not everyone would be happy putting 270 bhp through auto transmission but the tuner will have his own take on torque levels (Saab restricts autos to 300 Nm even in Aeros) and your 240 seems safer.
(3) appropriate tyre, suspension and braking improvements to taste! These might do more to "smooth current performance" anyway, depending on what you have now.
