First I want to thank everyone that helped me with advice or parts or a wrench. One and a half months later my Aero is no longer battleing lawn gnomes and is back on the street. The tranny came out great. I'm a fan of the new synthetic tranny fluid. The Sachs high performance pressure plate kit/incuding stock clutch has a great feel and bite. Lititz did a good job lightening the flywheel. All in all its incredible to have it back. ...on to the point at hand....
Its snowing here in western mass, and the roads are ugly. We knew it was comming and I was about to swap for my snows but I had a hot date and left just as the first flakes were falling. Fastforward a few hrs and its time for the drive home. There had been several inches of accumulation while I was inside. I point the aero home and proceed to crawl for the length of the drive on my BFGOODRICH GForce T/A 215/50R16 rubber (better 50% of tread still left). This trip included a 1/2mi uncontroled slide at 15mph down a steep farm road, almost zero breaking and little or no directional control on brake at all. It was a "fun" ride. Once home (now 2:30am) I go straight to the garage. I Swap the summer rubber for 4 MICHELIN Artic Alpin 195/65R15 snows (thanks Derek), and go for the comparison challange. WOW! I knew there would be a big difference but the magnitude was amazing. The car could actually put a portion of its power down before engaging the TCS, then with the TCS off the tires tenacious grip and progressive character came out in full force. Even while skid breaking the tires offer an amount of turn control. I retraced my whole trip with a few extra stops to some parking lots and alot of powersliding. The grin still hasnt come off my face ;)
...Winter pavement has just become its own playground...

Oh, and on the trip the Aero rolled her first milestone coming to rest at 100,008 on the od. Can't wait to see that two more times.
