Ok, if you REALLY want to get a boost, go to the hardware store, get a gallon can of Xylene (sometimes called xylol) and put that in your tank with your normal fuel. It has an octane rating of about 118. Don't try to run on it straight. That is, unless you like glowing exhaust parts......
Alcohols are OK for boosting octane ratings, but most commercially available stuff does have waayyy too much H2O in it. IPA is much better than methanol. But these can really screw up your catalytic converters in high concentrations. Stick to the hydrocarbons and you'll be fine.
How do I know all this? 4.5 years of chemistry graduate school comes in handy sometimes.
