Recently purchased 1996 9K 2.0l CSE LPT (UK spec) 65k. Would like to get a
Speedparts ECU upgrade but think I should make sure all is ok before doing so.

Problem:- the revs seem to kick up or stay high, briefly, after lifting the accelerator and declutching when accelerating and changing up a gear. It happens mostly when driving harder. There is no problem with the car idling or any stalling when decelerating. In fact the engine braking seems on the gentle side. The problem sounds minor but does interfere with ease of driving and fun :-<

I have cleaned the throttle plate and AIC valve as per saab9000.com. Replaced all vac hoses (no BPC fitted as standard)-this improved a judder on taking off in 1st gear. But slight judder is still present. Pre turbo pick-up is slow. Pick up becomes rapid once revs get up.

My best guesses are
1) hooter valve or BPV problem? The BPV holds vacuum when I suck on it but could it fail the other way round and not release boost pressure immediately when decelerating, thus prolonging turbo boost for a short time and kicking up the revs on the unloaded engine?
2) Could it be a sluggish release of the clutch -
3) Other vacuum problem
or ???
