And now I'm using a Group IV full syn at 160k. I have no leaks that weren't already there before. All oils today should have comparable seal-swelling properties. A grp4 full syn will keep the inside of an engine clean by not creating the deposits a semi or dino will, but I'm not yet convinced that it will "dissolve" impacted crud in cracks & crevices any more than, say, Mobil Drive Clean oil will. I'm sure you can still buy a non-detergent oil, but it's probably going to be a straight 30wt & not of a quality you'd want in your "baby". Unless you choose to run a heavily-detergent diesel oil, I think they're all pretty similar in effect.
