OK this is what I did with the T5 ECM. I opened it up and inspected both sides of the board with 40X magnification. I found that Pin #20 is burned/damaged at the board, but still has continuity to the ground buss and Pins 24/25 (main ground). The manual says Pin#20 is not used. I verified that is has no continuity from the board location to the actual Pin#20 in the connector. I don't know if that is intentional or the result of damage. Also, on the "top" of the board where the components are, the worst smell is from the area indicated on the picture (near a 7-pin device that looks like a voltage reg). Links to the 2 pictures below.
I will check all the harness ground & power lines, DI Cassette operation, the usual stuff this weekend. The trionic-spec injectors are already back in.
Dealer cost for a 9000 Turbo '94-'98 T5 box (any model - B234E, B234L, and B234R) is US$869.00 !! No kidding!!
