thanks for the info. Autometer recommended the liquid variety only on the sender threads. So far so good. THere is a separate grould wire from the sender. I throw all five of the gauge grounds through the cigarette curcuit and fuse.
cool thing about htese ultra expensive Cobalt gauges (aside from the mechanic accidentally ordering this series and getting the insurance company to pay--sidenote I had phantom series before)....is that there now are two hots, one that I run through my interior light dimmer, and the other through a constant 12V. nice setup, a hell of a lot of wires.
Down side is the LED illuminescence...far too bright. I dim the interior lights *just so I can see the speedo, and the AM gauges are at about the right brightness. That and they are blue, like the VDubs gauges. I'll get use to them;)
As well I wish they ordered a mechanical boost gauge. I think the electric one I have reads a couple psi too high. That and well...much more wiring and a map sensor to boot.
