"Limited downtime" = you don't want engine/trans to come out, so internals modification out of the question.
For a 'first stage' modification, they all involve APC modifications of some kind, and you will need to uprate the fueling to make sure that extra boost translates to power gains and not just leaning out of the fuel mixture and higher combustion chamber temps: Search for "APC mods" or "APC tweak" on here, and have a look, for instance, at our APC page at http://www.turboteameurope.com, under 'tech'. I for one would not spend the $350 for commercially available APupgrade at this point, as virtually all gains to be had from modifying the AP controller can be had for a fraction of the money, as long as you're willing to work the soldering iron and rerad as much about the subject as you can to have an idea how your tweaks will affect the bigger picture.
For fueling, there are several ways to do it that all have their advantages and drawbacks. I don't want to start a 'religious wwar' here about which is better, so you choose. Again, do a search on the web, read as much as possible and make sure you have some kind of understanding about how things work before making a decision. Typically, your 'stage one' upgrade will get by with swapping the 2.5 bar fuel pressure regulator you have with a 3.0 bar one from a 16 valve normally aspirated 900 or 9000, whilst a rising rate fuel pressure regulator (Trent Saab/FSE (Malpassi) offering the best bang for buck here) will allow for better transient response, and some kind of scope for adjustment. Subsequent upgrades will need reprogramming the LH fuel injection ECU in conjunction with bigger injectors (very hard in the USA I understand, if you choose a 'standard set up' from one of the better known Swedish tuners you can however order a reprogrammed ECU as part of the upgrade - however this normally does only account for standard injectors), one or more electronically controlled auxiliary fuel injectors, or a stand-alone engine management system.
Sorry, gotta split - in the meantime, Brad, damien and Vince T are (amongst others) the ones to hear when it comes to c900 stuff...
Happy Saabing,
Eric
