Got the fuel system uprated, what to do for more boost?

Hi there. I think I have my fueling system fairly well sorted out for some modest boost increases, but I'm wondering how much boost conventional wisdom says I can support given my mods.
The car is an '88 SPG. I am running a 3 bar fuel pressure regulator and 24# FMS injectors. I've already performed a little minor tweekage on the APC (typical F and P pot adjustment). Only other mod is a 3" exh from the turbo back with high flow cat and straight through muffler.
Right now I'm boosting just a little bit into the red in 4th and 5th gear. Since I added the bigger injectors I don't seem to be experiencing any APC-induced cut out anymore. I dont have any hard numbers in terms of psi but I'm guessing its between 13 and 14 psi at max boost. I don't seem to be able to get into the red in gears 1-3. Not sure if this is typical.
My next mods will probably be a proper boost guage and a a/f meter. So, how much boost do you all think I should be able to handle and how should I get there? I'm pretty fond of the engine protection that the APC provides, so I'd like to keep it intact for the time being. Thanks!
