I've an '85 900T with two springs mounted externally on the wastegate. I've also got an SPG APC box in the car, a 3.0 fuel pressure regulator, an open air filter (no airbox) and a high - flow exhaust. The springs I used resemble brake shoe type springs and came from Napa, they are manufactured by Bowman nut and bolt company, part #BOW 21677. Is this an advisable modification? Probably not. I'm sure there are many Saab fanatics much more knowledgeable than I that would tell you a million reasons why this is a bad idea. I've used this spring on several turbo's, however, and never experienced ill effects. What I have found: useing just one spring on a 2.0 turbo will get your boost guage slightly into the red before the wastegate takes over, two springs side by side will get it about 1/3 of the way into the red. On a 2.3 with D.I. the same spring can be used and also will have the same results. They are also effective as a short term fix for faulty BPC's on the 2.3's. Use common sense; start with one and always use a minimum of 92 octane fuel. One end of the spring hooks around the Heim joint on the wastegate where the actuator rod attaches, the other end hooks on the flange along the side of the diapghragm housing.
I would state, however, that my own intuition (yes, I do have some)tells me that Trionic is a pretty complex system and perhaps not as safe a bet for this modification as the older style 900T's.
Good Luck
-Erik
