I have been plagued by the cold morning start. Awhile back the classic hunting/starving idle was driving me crazy upon cold starts. After warm up, everything works fine. After replacing the AMM, the IAC and cleaning out the throttle body and adjusting base idle things have gotten a lot better, but not perfect. Now in the cold morning the car starts fine, sets in idle at 950 rpm and appears to be good. Until I turn the steering wheel, thus causing the rpms to drop and then re-catch. This is not too bad, so I can live with it. I did re-clean the IAC which is till relatively new and not dirty yet. The car seems to run very lean when I first take off in the morning. Very sluggish, doesn’t want to go. Thought I felt a miss occasionally but I can’t be sure of that. After the temp rises everything's perfect, idle included, no sudden drops even when loads are applied or coming to a stop. Perfect running. I am not thinking it’s the O2 sensor because if that were the case it would be sluggish all the time, not just when cold. Right? I am leaning towards the NTC sensor (fi water temp), although I hear these rarely fail. Can you test the NTC sensor, with an ohm gauge or something? Could it possibly be that I need to adjust the mix on the AMM? Could that be it? Again, that doesn’t make sense to me as the car doesn’t appear to drive lean when warm, just cold. Hence if the AMM mixture was too lean wouldn’t that cause it to run that way regardless if the car was cold or warm? Very frustrated as the car in every way besides this is perfect. No vacuum leaks, timing, plugs, wires, fuel filter all good. Any help greatly appreciated.
