I have a Forge BPV on my 88 SPG and it fits in nicely, albeit just a little tight. Is there any chance you have an incorrectly sized (too long) aftermarket hose in place? Or could it be that the right hose is there but not mounted properly? The former seems more likely to me than the latter, since many other items would not line up right if it was a stock hose out of place.
I've installed a Forge valve on C900 turbos more than once with no problems. I HAD to install one on my wife's old C900 turbo automatic, since she went through two Viggen model BPVs in under one year. We (I) installed the Forge valve, and no more hoot. I blew through the uprated Bosch unit on my SPG running 18 psi in under 6 momths as well. Installed the Forge... haven't had any problems since.
BTW: It's not a "Viggen" BPV, only the uprated Bosch model that was used on the Viggen! :o)
