The SPG is dying and I've finally located a B202 short block and 2.1L heads. Machining and head work will be performed by Lesco, but I've chosen to perform the engine disasembly/assembly and removal/installation myself. I have no direct experience with any mechanical work of this magnitude, but am willing to give it a shot. There's an excellent mechanic in the area should things go wrong.

I've gone through the Bentley manual and scoured the web for resources to prep myself, but am still unsure of which are the Required vs nice-to-have tools for such a job. I will be working with a decent mechanic's tool set, and work will be performed on a metal/wood bench. Have found a resource for an engine hoist and car lift, so I *think* most pieces are in place.

Without have to burn a hole in my pocket purchasing tools I'll probably never use again, can someone please provide some pointers as to which are absolutely required, and what common tool (or combinations) can substitute a genuine Saab tool?

Would love to hear some first time engine rebuild experiences too!
