8V valve refurbishing

I'm having a great time p&p'ing this head and am about to deal with the valves. Using a chem dip I'm able to remove most of the carbon and gunk buildup on both the intake and exhaust valves. The intake faces I'm polishing to a mirror finish. My instinct is to do the same on the exhaust valve faces, which means sanding off the hardened fine layer of tan/brown carbon, as well as fine sanding, then applying a buffed mirror finish to the face.
On the backside of the exhaust valves (within the exhaust port bowl) the fine tan/brown carbon is also present all over the textured metal surface, and there's a band of dark carbon buildup along the exposed valve stem just before it heads into the valve guide. In keeping with the exhaust porting philosophy, shouldn't that entire valve backside also be a mirror finish? That would require fine sanding, then polishing the metal to a smooth shine. I've actually already done that to one spare exhaust valve and it looks great.
My question: is there any harm in doing that (mirror finish front and back)to an exhaust valve?
