Carbon build up? Who cares?
If the carbon had any effect on performance (say it raised compression .5 points, which is reaching...) the Trionic would easily adapt to it accordingly. I doubt it would be noticeable in performance to 99% of Saab drivers (at least in the US).
And for my own opinion about the 2.0 Turbos: yee haw! My '98 900 has close to 100k on it and is running smooth as ever, putting out more than enough power for a mostly-stock motor in a daily driver. Still puts a smile on my face whether it's zooming around town in 2nd gear or flying on the highway in 4th and 5th gears.
The Trionic can adapt boost pressure, timing, and fuel injector pulse width to suit most fuels. I have run premium and mid-grade just fine, but you do need the premium for maximum performance.
