At idle, when the engine is fully warmed up, the VAC does get low, nothing unusual there. So how accurate is a boost guage? If is reads 14, is it 13 or 15? You may never know. But the bottom line is that you adjust the MBC to whatever you can live with fuel-cut wise. And you do not need a guage to get to that point. The guage will show you how your boost drops at higher RPM. If you have a typical MBC install, the boost will be dropping significantly! That is because the MBC is controlling the pressure upstream of the IC, and at higher flow rates the pressure at the TB will be much lower. A Viggen IC will help a lot. I connected my MBC at the TB with a custom 3/4" brazed manifold on the high side of the IAC. This also connected to a pop-off valve. The whole affair was working very well and I weas going into my first winter with it, which is the acid test of MBC setups. But in November my 95SET was rear-ended and written off.
