Hey

Well, here's two small updates for whoever is interested...

I snagged a used 1991+ 900T ECU (P/N: 0 280 000 948) which is known for being the most reliable LH 2.4 c900T ECU that SAAB used. I paid $25 + S&H from a TSN user who had posted a classified ad. After talking to a few others who have installed the 948 ECU in their non-948 ECU equipped c900T's, they have had great results. A few even report a slight increase in horsepower.

I swapped in the 948 ECU into my 1990 SPG this past weekend and had great results. The fuel pressure increase/decrease situation stopped. After resetting my RRFPR, the idle now runs beautifully. No richening or leaning for no apparent reason. I could maybe agree that there may possibly be a slight performance increase, but I'm guessing this is just because some things were corrected, not upgraded. I had the normal 1990 SPG ECU (common for failures) in before I swapped in the new ECU, but I had removed my EGR system, so there would be no EGR signal to interfere with this new ECU. Either way, just wanted to post that the swap went successful, and if you can get your hands on one, swap it in!

Secondly... about the Speedparts/Taliferro ECU fuel chips. I called Nick up today, and he had one ECU fuel chip for the 948 ECU. He sent it out, and it should be arriving here in a couple of days. He also has some defected ECU chips, with tiny handwritten messages on them like "no RPM limit". Scary. If you're OK with the no limit, give Nick a call. An MSD 6AL unit could correct the RPM limit problem, but I would suggest waiting. Nick said he still has no idea when the new/next shipment of the Speedparts ECU fuel chips will be in, but he says he does expect them... sometime. He is guessing that Speedparts doesn't think it is worth the hassle to send over a bunch of fuel chips that need tested for the money they're getting for them. That's just what he thinks though. Anyway, there is still hope for those who have placed their orders. I did not ask about any other chips, so I don't think there are any others in stock. You can always call him about the "no RPM limit" chips though! Good luck!

Just dropping the news!
Take care,
Taylor

RIP Kyle & Tim
