A few questions about Group 6 APC

I noticed today that my boost gauge is nearly at the line between yellow and red even before reaching 3000 rpm. I've read that boost is supposed to come on strong after 3100. Mine would be deep into the red in a very short time after 3100. Is this rush of boost what is causing the famous "hiccup" I've (and many others apparently) unsuccessfully been trying to cure? Should I try adjusting the pot so boost doesn't climb so quickly? If I lay on the gas easy, it goes right up to the end of the red without interuption. If I just step on it hard, almost right away I'll get something that feels like fuel cutoff switch, but that's disconnected. I've tried contacting SPG9 to no avail. Base boost is 6 BTW.
