Definatly do that!
The pressure for your RRFPR should be around 45 PSI at idle with vac hose disconnected and blocked off. Should read stoich on the AF gauge at idle. Every AF gauge is different, but it should be the max amount of stoich it can be. Eg; mine has two bars lean, two stoich, and two rich. It sweeps up to the 2nd stoich bar at idle.
Nathan's idea for disconnecting the battery is a good one. After everything is dialed in, disconnect and let sit for awhile. Then, repeat if necessary until it idles fine and reads stoich on the gauge.
When you go to test drive it, watch the AF gauge. Under medium to high boost it should start to read rich. Let us know if it gets rich early, late, etc. C900's usually run rich in the midRPM range and these chips are supposed to clear that issue up.
Also, I'd say you should just go online and drop the $25 for an AF gauge at summitracing.com. I bought summit's version for about $30 shipped, to my door in 2 days! Works great! Excellent tool for tuning, and to monitor your car in general.
Before you go through all this trouble, just try to battery thing and then test drive. See if anything gets cleared up. But definatly find yourself an AF gauge ( :
Just monitor and let us know what you see!
Good luck!
Taylor
