jk...just describing your future state of no money because of car.

you can get a suprising amount of performance out of a stock saab with hardly any work at all. but first...make sure the basics are covered. change ALL the fluids and all filters. give it a good tuneup and new plugs, personally i really like the nippondenso iridium. they seem to last and last and last.

you can get a fine set of helical wound wires from you local auto parts store for not much money at all

now you are ground zero. the next suggestion is to splice in a brand new 35$ O2 sensor. now you are ready to upgrade. forget about cams for now, worry about fuel. a new set of 30# injectors for around 150ish. k&n type filter upgrade. i am not so sold on rising rate regulators...they only appear to shift the problem..not remove it.

nowyou move to the apc and find a good uphill to test, a boost gauge is needed by this point. buy a mity vac and calibrate the stock one. cheap and you get a tool out of the deal...a few tweaks with a sharpened short nail and it comes alive.

now for the bad news...the 85's had mondo wiring issues with failing insulation, that will take low $ and hi hours.

more bad news....if you push an old dog it will die. transmissions and head gaskets are the first to go...i suggest that you get it running square with no leaks and let it go at that unless you want to work 7 jobs to pay for it...

in any case...welcome aboard and may god have mercy on your soul
