Question on adaptation runs

I've read how to do adaptation runs. However, I'm normally an easy driver. Will the ECU readapt over time to my easy driving style?
Also, I have tried some exhaust work i.e. removing the center muffler and installing a high flow rear muffler. When I have done this, I actually seem to lose performance.
Is this simply a matter of having to do new adaptation runs after the exhaust work? Or do I need bigger jets?
Thanks for your help
