I know the construction pictures are bad, they were taken from my pre-digital camera days. Actually I have two spare tubes out in the garage, I should take a picture of those.. They come as one seamless piece, 62" long. That worked for me, so I didn't see any need to cut them. I am going to redo my center speaker though, so I will be cutting it off about 1/3 down from the top. I figure I will wrap some paper around the tube to get a straight line, then either mark it well or just leave the paper on, and cut around it with my jigsaw. As I recall, it cuts that stuff pretty easily.
A band saw would be the best way to cut it, I'd say. It could be done on a table saw I bet, but it might be a bit tricky to keep the end flat against the fence while you are rolling the tube over the blade. Two person operation, I'd say. Another option would be a radial arm saw, just cut 1/4 of the tube at a time, rotate, repeat.
Anyhow, the front baffle is just attached to the inside of the tube with drywall screws and adhesive caulking.
