When I bought them, the 712 had just come out, and was still around $80 a tire for my size, vs $55 for the 711, and there weren't scads of other V rated tires under $80 (in fact I hardly remember any except the BFG Touring T/A). Anyway, I found the 711's just as everone else did, very sticky, but noisy.
On my car they lasted a long time, at least 30k miles, but I didn't take a lot of opportunities to really drive them hard, so mostly commuter miles.
They were extremely noisy in the rain, especially over standing water, but didn't seem to have any problems with it. As for cornering though, they didn't protest much at all The handling I felt was excellent, very close to my current Yokohama AVS intermediates - the next steal of the day at $47 each. :) I think the Yokohamas have even more grip but I expect them to not last nearly as long as the Kumhos. Hard to tell at this point since I have only had them on the car about five months and they don't show much wear.
