just did this last week w/ 6AL: MSD has 3 sets of wires: power (thick red and black), to coil (thinner orange and black), and trigger/+12V (white and red).
(1) MSD power--- connect red to power distribution block, black to battery ground (or good frame/engine ground);
(2) MSD orange and black, goes to + and - connectors on coil;
(3) MSD white trigger wire--- this goes to original blue Saab wire that was connected to coil;
(4) MSD red wire for switched 12V--- connect this to original Saab green/white wire that was connected to coil;
(5) the small black wire that was on the coil is NOT a ballast resistor, it's a small capacitor to reduce rf interference--- either leave it off, or connect it to where it was, on pos. side of coil (other end goes to ground on side of distributor?);
(6) make sure MSD violet wire is not connected or grounded to anything.
It should all work with the standard Bosch coil...
