Well as Taylor said, if you have enough resources ("money") you can stuff almost any engine into a Saab!
Realistically, though, your options are very limited. Later Saab motors, and the 2.3 from the 9000 won't fit a C900 - the block is the wrong shape. The top of your block is at a 45-degree angle from the bottom, whereas all the newer motors have the two surfaces parallel.
Triumph made a V8, used in the Stag and maybe a couple of other models, that will mate to the C900 transmission, but it's not a very good motor and it's still a nightmare to make it fit under the hood.
My advice would be to get a turbo motor if you don't have one already, and work on tweaking it. They're great motors which have the potential to make quite a lot of power. Of course, whether the transmission can take it is another issue...
