Max boost at 3/4 throttle?

I've had the Abbott ECU installed now for about two and a half years now and love it. However recently I've noticed on a hot day it feels like the wastegate actuator sticks open when I'm under boost. If I blip the throttle, it goes back to full boost -- 18PSI. Also, on particularly warm days, I notice that I get better boost at about 3/4 throttle, not full throttle.
Is the turbo going out of its efficiency range? (OEM Mitsu TD05 installed) Is it time for a bigger turbo? I really don't want to introduce lag at all to the system. All else being equal, the car feels strong and has a great throttle response. Don't want to mess that up...
