I have a (probably dumb) question regarding sound supression in using a catalytic converter as opposed to no cat.
The reason I ask is that my '88 9000T never came with a cat..it was shipped over to Canada from Germany with some OEM Ebershbacher (sp) center muffler, where that cat usually is.
As it stands now I have a JT downpipe, small bullet muffler dynomax (where the cat usually is) and a straight through muffler at the rear. 2.5 inch pipe to the rear.
Anyway, the car has always 'growled' a bit under light load and higher RPMS. It sems to rsonate as well...it just sounds 'rough' as opposed to 'smooth'
I am ordering a JT cat back systen in a couple weeks, and was wondering about getting the cat as well, as I don't like the resonation.
So finally... here is the question...how much of a role does the catalytic converter play in sound suppression??
thanks for the feeback.....
