Long time, no post...
Unlike most folks (being the idiot that I am) I put exhaust mods at the very bottom of my list. After having looked at the options out there (JT, etc.), I was never very happy with the options, and being a perfectionist of sorts, just put a downpipe off in favor of other things until I could find the "right" one.
We've all seen the dandy downpipes available for other cars with mitsubishi-style internally-wastgated turbos (WRX, etc) with separate collector for turbine and WG gases. Well, Brad finally put one together and had some samples fab'd. Once the first batch was completed, he sent me a sample + a reducer that would bolt to where the cat used to mount in the back.
This weekend I installed it, and I can honestly say that it's the best upgrade of any sort that I've done to my car. (water injection a very very close 2nd) Now, I've never used one of the single pipe 3" downpipes (JT, etc.), so I don't have anything to reference it against, and I'd guess that having this done as a first mod might not be as impressive (I'm certain that this let loose latent power from other mods that were searching for a way to breathe).
I haven't yet even been able to realize the full potential of the thing because 1) no time yet to tweak timing and boost 2) dog has been riding to work with me and doesn't appreciate being slammed against her seat. Even without tweaking other components, the power is noticibly increased, spool is faster, and *most* importantly, any hesitation/curve flattening/gasping for exhale past 4k rpms is gone. It's screams up to redline smooth and fast.
Regardless, the thing rocks. It's all stainless, requires no battery relocation, and is of high quality welding. I don't have any pictures (still waiting to find the "right" digital camera....), so you'll have to wait for Brad to post some. I don't know how much it costs (waiting for an invoice), but whatever it is, it's worth it.
Anyway, if there's anyone else out there that's waited for a great DP for the mitsu-equipped 900s, this is it.
