Hi,
I have a 87 2.0L 9000T with a 91 2.1L head.
I'm using the stock 2.0L turbo. I've heard that the 2.3L turbo works better in my car, can you advise?
I've ported the 2.0 L intake to match the 2.1L intake ports. upgrades include: 2.3/4" cat back exhaust, Stage 2 APC,K&N air filter, HP BYPASS,Red Injectors, distributer mods, 2.1L Head 1991,Magna core wires, 15LBS Turbo bypass kit, lowing springs,16" wheels, Konis and sway bars.
I have a few turbo questions.
1) The 2.1L has the same valves as a 2.0L but larger intake porting.
My car runs well at full boost but it's a bit doggy off the line.
I'm running the 2.0L turbo cams, although I've her the 2.1L N/A cam
is the hot set up? I've heard all kinds of Turbo stories. People say I can simply add exhaust manifolds and some plumbing and a turbo from a 2.3L 1991-1998. They say this will give me much more power and low end torque.
2) I called my local used parts distributor and he said he sees a high turbo failure rate with the 91-93.
3) Can you tell me what is the best turbo set up with my car.
what power gains 1-10 best?
4) Can you tell me all the parts that I will need?
5) Will the newer turbo spool up and give me more off the line torque?
6) Will I loose lot's of top end ?
7) What type of prices should I expect to pay for all the needed parts?
8) Is there any thing I should avoid?
9) Any thing I should do while I'm replacing the turbo?
10) Also will a 2.1 non turbo snail type intake run well or better
than the 2.0L intake with a larger turbo?
Thanks for all your time advice and wisdom.
Dave
