I used to have the same kit on my viggen.
The original piping can be used for cold air. There is a junction before the filter box. When the box is removed the pipe ends just about under the cone.
I removed the unit from my car when I discoverd that my MAF was constantly gettin ful on sh*t even though I regularly cleaned and oiled the unit.
The sound are great, but I do not think it is worth the money a new MAF is worth (260E in Finland). Ofcourse you can clean the MAF but it will eventually brek if debris is getting into it.
One other thing, you wont notice the MAF is dirty before set up is really of. The CEL wont come on until ECU runs out of compensation margin. By then your mixtures will way of...
I do not know what kind of experience other people have had with free flow filters, this has just mine.
