'87 vented rotor install should only require swapping the calipers. I don't think the shield is different. Worst case scenario will require swapping shields as well, I think.
'88 brake swap - I'm considering this for my '87 SPG since I have a set of 16" Aero wheels I don't plan on selling w/ my convertible. I believe it requires swapping complete spindle assy's and not just hubs up front. In addition to '88+ calipers, you will need '88+ axles since they differ in length from earlier ones. At the rear, I have questions about the panhard rod. I will probably grab everything I find connected to the rear axle just to be safe. I'd rather have spares than come up short.
'85 wiring, APC and engine compartment - Since my '85 SPG was replacing an '87 900T w/ Accelerated Response APC, and being all too familiar with a friend's '85 SPG electrical gremlins, I decided to swap all the wiring from the '87 to the '85. The '85 APC box is only calibrated for 160HP (no more than a stock 900T anyway) so I killed the proverbial "two birds" in that I could install an APC that would not have plugged into the '85 harness, and - more importantly - avoided the '85's electrical woes. The basics in the engine compartment are identical. I needed to change a vacuum fitting in order to add the BPV ('85T's didn't come with BPV's from factory although many were retrofitted). I had to replace a plug between the intake runners with a sensor from the '87. Also had to switch AMMs. Other than those minor things, I don't think there are any real differences to be concerned with. Of course the lighting wiring had to be adapted.
Airflow pkg - Pre-87 Airflow kits are among the ugliest I've seen, IMHO. They don't come with bumper covers like the later years. However, if you're determined to keep the pre-87 lighting and grill, '87+ Airflow bumpers can be made to fit (see link) if you can find them.
Hope that helps.
