Had the same issues with my Viggen...
Assuming you want to stay in a stock category: Learn to left foot brake. It will help rotate the rear end around. I also found higher pressures in the rear to reduce the contact patch helped bring the rear around easier (45 psi rear, 40 psi front). For theoretical weight balance, run the spare in the back, full tank of gas, and fold down the seats... I haven't found any difference though, so I keep my rear light so I can rotate it quicker..... Kind of how I do it is as I'm coming into a corner: I'm hard on the brakes and throttle (left foot braking). I can feel the back end starting to slide, so I let up a bit and trail brake (drag the brake) through the apex wagging the rear end around. As I come out, off the brakes completely and still on the gas. If it starts to plow, unwind the wheel and jab at the brakes until the front end bites... As you improve, you can feel and balance the car using the left foot brake technique. And yes, I chew up tires pretty quick :-)
Also, try and find someone who can change your alignment for performance in autocross... I haven't done this yet.
