I have had stock, Magnaflow, Glasspack and Bullet mufflers. I currently run a Borla w/ 2.5 pipes. It is a straight through muffler that is relatively quite in normal driving yet produces an intoxicating deep and smooth sound at WOT. I am very happy w/ this setup. Many have suggested going to the JT exhaust system for a Saab for which I was also considering in getting but instead tried the Borla and I am glad I did. I do not know which of the two is better but can say that the Borla produces the best sound from the ones I have owned. The sound is not as "deep" but is "silkier" than the others I’ve tried. Describing sound is difficult, but I hope this helps. I was determined to try different mufflers until I found something as you said was not, "unbearable when the car is going up a hill or have a lot of people in the car". I run with an Audi and Subaru crowd and have received many compliments on my C900 Exhaust tone, both inside and outside the car. Hope this helps.
