more on big AMM's for C900 (links) Posted by Kevin K [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: lil story, jak ![]() |
even the volvo amm/ecu set has limits on air flow, and the amm offers pressure drop at high flows. for both the saab and volvo system, the split sec psc1-003 amm translator could allow the use of a much larger ford amm (55mm, 70mm, etc). The guy in the audi links, xr4ti, is going this path for a 1.8T to 2.0T A4 with oem 1.8T motronic ecu. His disadvantage is that this method to introduce larger inj's and maintaining proper fuel control effects his timing-load maps ... with c900/9k's with LH, timing is usually independently controlled.
basic concept is to send current amm to a shop for a calibration curve test. they also provide a curve for a larger ford amm they sell, mabe tweaked by shop so your max airflow desired is just below 5V, the limit of the psc1 translator input.
you 1st do a basic test: use pc and pcs1 to alter the ford curve to exactly match the original saab (volvo) curve. This should result in matching original performance, using part of big amm range, with old inj's.(see chart, main link)
next say you want to control 50% more power/flow, with a 50% larger inj'r upgrade. you create a new target curve, offset to right of original saab curve, with 50% more flow at ea output voltage for the new big amm. you then use the psc1 to alter the original ford curve to this new target curve for 50% bigger inj's.
the main translator table can be tweaked based on 02 sensor output testing, preferably wide band tests on a road or dyno. the tables can even be tweaked differently for high rpm vs low. very adjustable.
would be nice to get a chip to up the redline.
the concept is being able to run 44-55 lb inj's for high hp conditions, with original very smart ecu, with a low restricion, high flow amm tuned for stock ecu. still have oem enrichment at wot.
though you'd be interested in the concept, at least the theory.
