If you can get away with using some form of cat bypass, the use of special racing fuels is a much better and safer way to increase octane. VP fuels makes a racing gas that is specially designed for turbocharged engines. the "motor octane" is 117, this is the lower of the two numbers in the r+m/2 in normal octane calculations. This product contains lead but does not harm the oxygen sensor in small quantities. I have used at least 200 gallons in my 9000 Aero at 20 to 50 % with premium gas and saw no deterioration in O2 sensor over a 4 year period. I just replaced it with a new sensor and there were no indications that the old sensor was impaired.
This racing fuel costs from $8 to $10 per gallion.
vpracingfuels.com is their web and C16 is the item.
