....I love SPGs. Working on acquiring a second. Should look nice to my baby, my '88 SPG, plus the '74 99 rally project, and the newly acquired family toy, an '87 convertible.
Re: your questions. Turbo vs. cat-back - you have a significant difference here because the former would include a downpipe from the turbo, while the latter would not. The downpipe helps a bit with the flow, you can compare the stock cast elbow to the nice bend of a custom downpipe to see the difference. As for SPG9 vs. Saab Savior...both are reputable companies. However, I believe there were some fitment issues with the latter for some people.
You can characterize APC tuning in two ways - first is a 'tweak' - that would be playing with the pots. The second is a 'mod' - where the internals of the APC are played with much more. Both are DIY-able, the former easier, the latter requiring some more skill and tools. A modified APC costs more, of course, but delivers better boost response. Another option, which some frown on, is to delete APC entirely and run a manual, mechanical or electronic, boost controller. This gives much more consistent boost. Up to you which way to go.
