What this clamp does is keep the steering rack in place, where it suppose to be. The stock clamp is made out of a very thick rubber gasket more or less. The stock rubber clamp allows the steering rack to move under hard load. Over time this rubber breaks also down and allows for further movement. This movement in the steering rack throws off the cars alignment, and give us the driver, a hell of time trying to compensate for it under heavy load. In cars with over 250hp(all viggens) the firewall flexes under heavy load as well, thus contributing to the misalignment of the car. Adding a brace between the new clamp and wheel well brace the firewall and prevents flex. This is one of the biggest problems with the ng900 and 9-3 and is easily solve with one our kits in less then 15 minutes. It is truly is amazing.
Your also right, torque steer is also inherent of changing the camber as well. This problem lays in the control arm bushings flexing under heavy load. We replace the stock bushing with powerflex bushing and solve this problem. We also have a sub-frame brace which braces the control arms and prevents further flex, but all of this tends to be an overkill for most ng900/9-3 driver who can benefit the most cost effective way from just changing out the steering clamp.
Abbott racing did design a kit like ours years ago and tried to sell it to Saab. Saab turned them down, why I don’t know. Abbott products tend to be very expensive for what you get and I assume this had something to do with it.
