I have been giving this some thought lately as my car is quite taken apart awaiting its new turbo. Said turbo is a T3/T04E, which will give major top end, but will be a bit laggy. I currently run a Spearco custom FMIC, and the piping is long and voluminous. I recently warmed up to the idea of the v-mount configuration for the benefits of packaging, airflow to both heat exchangers, and of course, less lag. If you are wondering what the hell I'm talking about, look here:

Two major issues in the C900 keep this from being easy. In order to tilt the radiator for adequate IC room (I would use a 6-8in high core, rather than the one "tall" shown on the RX-7), the bottom of the radiator would need to stick forward quite far. Not good. Less good, in fact, than hanging an IC out under your bumper. A custom radiator (probably different fans too) would be necessary. Not overly expensive, but complicated nonetheless.
The other issue is compressor discharge location. It is too far inboard to simply run a pipe directly into the IC. This could be solved by "flipping" the turbo, so that the turbine is inboard and the compressor is outboard. This would involve a minimum of re-routed oil lines and a custom (complicated) downpipe. Water lines would be easier.

It seems a little far fetched for me at this point, and a custom intercooler would need to be sourced (though the 2000+ 9-3 unit looks useful), and a vent cut into the hood, the hood hinges removed, block off plates fabbed too keep air from going around, custom radiator mounts, careful attention to radiator/tranny clearance, new coolant hoses.... but it would look badass and be quite functional.

It would be a cool project if someone has time and money sitting around. Until then I will reduce my piping diameter and make some flow compromises to reduce intake volume. I thought I would share the idea.
