Ive seen AMMs cause hi HCs & NOX which are lean indicators on 2.4 LH
if you havent dynoed it to see the AF ratios after the new AMM Id advise yu do
you probably fixed the problem & dont know it
I feel for you on the DMM Im spoiled & am used to looking at a graphing DMM which for these purposes as well as response time testing for o2s are allot easier to read
you could stick on your old AMM & backpin the orange wire but once again with a regular DMM unless you are used to using it to diagnose AMMS & o2s with itsa PIA
also I would advise you get a FP guage on it that you can see while driving & look for FP droping under a heavy load a fuel filter or warn FP issue could cause a consistant lean problem with out a breakdown & yes there are multiple root symptoms unfortunatly
