many people i autocross with have purchased the 'racing jack' from harbor freight. this is the same exact jack sold by numerous race and parts shops for several hundred dollars (compare the casting & you'll see); harbor freight sells it for $150 -- it goes on sale for this amount seemingly every other month.

the jack is aluminum so not that heavy for its size. iirc, it's low enough to go beneath a car @ 4" clearance and raises the car 17-18"; check the website to confirm. on my c900t w/spg springs, i have to do a little weightlifting squat with the bumper to lift the car perhaps 1/8" then, with my knee, slide the jack under the crossmember.

because it's a "race jack," letting pressure out can be a little exciting -- twist the handle just a bit too much and the car comes down *fast*. you need to get the hang of easing 'er down. not a problem; just something to be aware of.

i like it. bear in mind, though, that i'm on my second one - the first one could not hold pressure if i had the whole front end in the air (made a nasty, scary sound, like the sound effects of a crashed car hanging on a cliff edge on some cheeseball '70s show like Emergency or CHiPs). they replaced it free (it crapped out pretty much from the get-go). i have not heard of others having troubles with theirs.

also note that it comes with sufficient diagrams to rebuild the hydraulics should you need to some time down the road.
