No two cars are setup the same. Different turbos, different air cleaners, different fuel pressure regulators, different exhaust, different gas etc etc.
The basics of what we try to do with the stock ecu is get an injector that will give good drivability and some more power. 2.5bar pressure regulator is prefered as it provides a constant pressure. Most fuel pumps can not provide the pressure at full load and rpm that a RRFPR is asking for, tested and proven.
For 2.2LH the blue 24# injectors are a good drop in, no adjustment needed. Good low end, good cruising and drivability. A little extra power at the top. 30# can be made to work with about 470ohms resistance and a 2.5 bar regulator. With 30# injectors on a 2.2lh with stock turbo, stock intercooler the drivability is not as good as we would like.
From there if we use a proper turbo, proper flowing intercooler,500cfm. The 30's will support about 14psi boost safely. With stock stuff it will support 21psi as there is so much exhaust left in the cylinder that it does not need any more fuel past 4000rpm.
Fuel injector duty cycle. If you run 21psi the injectors are maxed out by the ecu at 4500rpm. By using larger injectors and resistor you can get mapping above that. The thing we must keep in mind that these engine were made to make go torque and power upto 4500rpm. Every thing in the design of the engine is not made to make good power at 6000rpm. All of that can be change with head work, turbo selection etc.
All of that said my prefferance is to use injectors driven by the stock ecu that provide go start and drivablilty then add additional fuel with a secondary injector or injectors that you have control of. In this manor the driver can match the fuel requirements of his combination with ease. If you change turbo or intercooler you can remap the fuel curve for max power.
2.4LH is about the same except that 30# injectors with resistor is almost a must to avoid the overboost.
The ARC2 by Split Second can be used in place of the resistor for better tuning but the cost factor is not the best.
Shameless plug, Water injection will go along way to reduce the amount of fuel needed to control detonation.
