still looking for a bit of advice on mods;
The following by TRENTSAAB.co.uk comes highly recommended by erik van spelde:
"Stage 1" conversion kit: APC upgrade, FSE power boost valve, 0.5 bar Garrett wastegate, wastegate mount plate and modified rod end, stainless steel exhaust system, anodized aluminium recirculating dump valve, dump valve mounting kit. They quote 225bhp as a result.
But; ABBOTTRACING.com, (who seem to be more popular by looking at the discussions here - products even exported to USA) say a replacing the intercooler is a "must", saying the o.e.m. one is inefficient. although trentsaab do a fancooler kit, they do not include this in their 'Stage 1 " kit.
so... to intercool or not?
to make life even more complex, I also have reputable Saab-ist technicians telling me both Abbott and Trent are a waste of money, and they can tweak with my T16s at a regular service (no extra charge) and give me comparable performance. I half believe it, as I can see plenty of suggestions here for cheap mods, BUT once away from you tweakin’ types and into the hands of "Mr Just-pops-the-hood-to-fill-up-washer-fluid", I think it’s like asking for "minimal outlay/maximum potential to go wrong, please!".
