Perhaps I don't understand the definition of boost taper. I do have a gauge, it's a VDO. I tapped the line from MAP sensor. The gauge shows same results as others with idle around 18in/hg, decel around 25in/hg. Max boost I have achieved is around 10psi, a huge improvement over my shot BPC with 5psi max. When I get to full boost (very quickly) the needle stays there until I shift. I thought boost taper would show readings that fell slightly after peaking, to say 7-8psi. I'm not seeing that on my gauge, and not feeling it SOP.
I also don't believe I'm getting overshoots, assuming this means a sudden rise past 10psi and fall back to 10psi reflected on the gauge. As mentioned earlier the needle sweeps rapidly to 10psi and stays until I let off the gas to shift. At no point does it flicker past 10psi and then settle back down. Perhaps the fact that I'm only tuned to 10psi is some of why I'm not encountering the problems others report?
Current mods are;
Dawes MBC
KN open element
removed turbo silencer in IC tube
currently no rear muffler (long story)
This week I plan to do the TBTC and Forge BPV, no Viggen IC in immediate future.
My goal was to overcome the lethargic performance of my car when it had a crippled BPC, leaving me with slow spool-up and 5psi max. Thus far the addition of the Dawes and other mods listed have done just that.
