i have found a richer mixture tends to idle smoother. i too have the 2.1 tb.
best way to tune idle for me was to pinch off the aic hose (even if aic unplugged, it does not fail fully closed), then use set screw to adjust idle rpm to around 50 rpm or so below intended idle. then dial in the mixture, then release the aic hose and allow aic to cycle and then retune mixture if necessary.
fwiw, i am still up and down on the idle. i can get it perfect, but only if i run through the steps above, which can take an hour or so to get it right. but then, it will be colder the following day, or the voltage in the vehicle will be different, etc. this causes me to rely on other areas of the system (compensation maps which are not fully tuned yet) and then idle will hunt again some times. kind of a pita... but, i'm at fault because since i have got it to run fairly well on the highway (majority of my driving), i have not spent as much time tuning other aspects. however, my map sensor should arrive today or tomorrow and then i can fully wire up the data logger. then it should be a good weekend day of tuning and should be set.
