The shop did also take apart the shift and key assembly thinking that this is the way to disconnect the shaft from the engine. When I opened it up discovered that the only used on of the three bolts to re install it fortunatelly they left these and other bolts and nuts in a box in my trunk.
I tightened the assembly down and ajusted the shift as per Townsend instructions for 1987 + Saabs. The adjustment was off approx 1/2 inch. I also stretched out the spring a bit on the shifter. Havent driven it yet but it seems better. However this could be considental but my convertible top does not go down. When I try the switch I do think I hear a relay under the rear seat. BY THE WAY I did call the shop again to tell them that the job they did was beyond incompedance. The owner agreed and advised that he fired the tech that was working on my car - because as he explained other customers had also complained about sloppy work. He said the last straw was not filling the trans and forgeting to install one of the axle housing bolts which he realized could have resulted in a burnt out trans.. I told him firing his man and a dime does not even buy me a cup of coffee.
