I guess I missed the LSD thread on Dec 27, I was in Baja for three weeks. Just to get the issue going again, my recommendation is for anyone who knows enough about cars to ask the question "should I get a LSD" is most likely astute enogh a driver to appreciate the advantages of having over not having a lsd that he should "just do it". ie get the lsd.
Secondly don't consider an LSD that tries to not change the characteristics of the car. The reason you want a LSD is you want to change the characteristics of your front wheel drive car, the most important aspect of the device you install is that it be predictable, ie. act in the same way all the time and not try to think for you.
I have over 5 years driving experience with Quaife LSD's in Saabs plus the LSD in my BMW M Coupe, the one in the BMW 2002 Tii that I sold two years ago and the lsd"s that are in my 02 WRX and for that matter even the center differentials in most Awd cars are actually LSD's.
As for putting more stress on our transmissions, Inn theory Perhaps yes but I have destroyed two transmissions tearing teeth off the ring and pinion gears in my 9000, both times before the LSD install, only transmission problem since install of lsd in my 9000 was third gear syncro.
I cannot even emagine owning a Saab and upgrading in any for performance without the LSD as a integral upgrade.
